There are some days for us that are super busy. We are running from one thing to another. I could go crazy or make sure that I give in to some self-care on those busy days.
What does self-care look like? For me it is stopping along the way to our destination at my favorite coffee shop and getting a large, sugar-free, almond milk, turtle latte. Yup, that’s my easy to get self-care item on our busy days. Yes, that means that one day a week I spend money on coffee outside of the house.
Coffee shops can be so expensive especially when the kids want a sandwich and a drink when I get my drink. Let me tell you though, it is worth it. I get my coffee, the kids get their snack, and everyone in the car is happy. There is a lot less arguing and whining. My heart is happy to enjoy my favorite drink and I am supporting a local coffee house that always has great customer service.
I think it is very important to encourage repetition when you find a business that treats their customers well. I always tip them well, let them know I appreciate them, and give them a 5 coffee cup (that is their stars) review!
Scooter’s Coffee is a drive-thru coffee hut on Mid Rivers Mall Drive in St. Peters. I have been going there for years now. I earn many free coffees with their rewards program and on occasion I bless a car behind me and pay for their morning coffee. I love to bless the cars that have a driver that really seems irritated. Sometimes I hear yelling or I noticed them cutting someone off when they pulled in.
You may say, why would you want to bless someone who was nasty to someone else? Think about it. When you are having a bad day, everything seems to be irritating you, and you just want to cry. Someone gives you a compliment, holds the door open for you, or helps you reach an item you are struggling to get in the store. How does that make you feel? Do you stay angry or does it bring a little sunshine into your day? For me, it shines a little light in my moody darkness. I hope and pray that I can help and do that for others as well. It only takes a little sunshine to make the grass grow.
I want to bless one of my readers with a gift card to Scooter’s Coffee. I would love to help you brighten your day just a little and help my favorite coffee shop. If you would like to try it out, enter to win a $10 gift card. Please tell your friends and family members to enter as well. Help me spread a little love and cheer. If you aren’t local to a shop, you can order coffee online. The gift card would cover a good portion of an entire bag of coffee or box of k-cups.
What is your top self-care place or thing? Is there something for you that just helps your days go a little more smoothly or that helps you ignore the negative? I would love to hear about it in the comments.
