I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education, a special education certification, and a Master’s of Education in School Counseling from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. Yet, I have a job where I make $15/hour. I absolutely love my job, or I wouldn’t have been doing it for the past 15 years.
When I was a little girl, I dreamed of owning my own home. I love to decorate. I love to host and have people over. It seems like the simplest of dreams, yet I don’t think it will ever become my reality.
I do have the educational background and ability to make substantial money which would be enough for Bryleigh and I to live off of on our own, but that day seems it may never come. At the end of the day, I make enough for my car, insurance, phone, and a few extras. I don’t know how I’d make it on my own by adding a mortgage and all the extras that occur with owning a home.
I was able to keep a condo for a little while after, my daughter, Bryleigh’s dad moved out of it and into his new girlfriend’s home. I had a different job for about 8 months which paid a lot better then they wrongfully fired me. Made up accusations of things I didn’t do. I had proof the accusations were false but never had anyone willing to look at my case. I went through my savings account trying to keep that condo and, in retrospect, that was a stupid thing to do. It ended up working out, though…as I try to look for the good in any situation. The condo was on the third floor and Bryleigh needed a yard.
I sucked up my pride and moved Bryleigh and I back in with my parents for a second time. The first time was after my divorce in 2010. Sometimes life throws you curveballs, running home just might get you the win…for now.
