I don’t know if you all feel like me but the kids are all home (not out of the ordinary for us) and there is no where to go. Sunny days we go and do outdoor things but all these rainy days lately…man, they are rough. Do you all feel me?
It is so easy, parents, for us to forget that we need me time. Depending on how many kids you have and if your spouse is working outside the home, like mine, you may not get much alone time. I am here to tell you, it is very important that you find it.
This might mean locking yourself in the bathroom. Yes, those little hands still sneak under the door. If you have a walk in pantry like me, sneak in there and have a snack all by yourself. If your kids still nap, relish in that time and take that hour to do something for you. Don’t clean, don’t do work, just take that time and do something you love. Do you love to craft? Read? Sew? That is what you do in those still moments.
When life is normal, I take one night a week to go and do whatever I want outside the house. Right now, not much is open but my wonderful fitness trainer planned an outing for us. We went to her house, worked out outside, and had margaritas on her back porch while we had adult conversation. Let me tell you how refreshing that was. It truly recharged my battery and I was happy to go home and help deal with the kids again. Make sure you take those advantages, parents, to recharge. Your relationship with your kids will be much better. This doesn’t mean you love them less, it just means you take the time for self care so you can care for them with all your heart and soul.
What do you enjoy to do for me time? Do you sneak away and take some quiet time? Tell me in the comments!
